Customer challenges
- Expro’s customer operates a field in the southeast of Algeria. As part of their field expansion plan, they required a fast-track Early Production Facility (EPF) with a processing capacity of 60,000 barrels of oil and 42 MMSCFD of gas per day
- A facility of this size would be the second largest in Algeria in terms of production capacity and was particularly challenging to deliver in a very short timeframe; however, thanks to Expro’s excellent track record and ready to deploy plug-and-play separation packages, compressors and pumps, competitive installation time, and efficiency over others, the customer requested
- Expro to accelerate the first phase of the project to be able to meet short term production goals (45,000 barrels of oil and 28 MMSCFD of gas per day) with one oil processing train in 2022
- The facility was later expanded with the addition of a second production train and compressor station in 2023 to recover all associated gas which would otherwise be flared
Expro Excellence
- Expro mobilized two complete oil trains composed of modular process packages (separator, surge tank, knock out vessel, booster, and transfer pumps) and a compressorstation (three compressors), complete with power generation and distribution, plant utilities (Instrument air, nitrogen, diesel tanks, firefighting), control room and E-House over the course of 10 months
- Our innovative approach to installation and hook-up of piping using modular interface skids greatly reduced the amount of cutting and welding on-site thereby reducing overall installation time
- Despite facing several constraints and challenges during construction integration with other contractors and brownfield work, the facility was successfully commissioned in November 2023 is now up and running at full capacity with >98% uptime
- Expro was able to successfully pass all regulatory inspections and checks with our exemplary quality of installation and strict HSE standards
Value to client
- Through Expro’s standardized package design and commitment to quality, safety, and superior project execution, separation equipment, pumps, and compressors were mobilized on an extremely fast-track basis to process produced oil and associated gas for export purposes with a low CAPEX outlay for the customer
- Through Expro’s rich track record in operations and maintenance of a variety of facilities throughout the world, Expro’s operations team has developed a keen understanding and insight into the optimization and efficiency of our packages under variable process conditions to minimize downtime – allowing our customer to achieve lower OPEX outlays and reducing system complexities
