Customer challenges
- The Customer had four Tubing Retrievable Sub Surface Safety Valves (TRSSSV’s) on two different Offshore Platforms that had failed their in-flow tests due to scale build-up issues
- On two of the TRSSSV’s, Flow Tube movement issues were identified
- Existing remediations employed included wireline intervention and conventional “pump from surface” methodologies. These delivered inconsistent results and increased HSEQ exposure during the interventions
- Deck and bed space on the Offshore Platforms was limited
Expro Excellence
- Expro proposed the Hydra model for the intervention campaign. This model features a footprint optimized solution to deploy Slickline, E-Line and CoilHose™ Light Well Circulation services by a multi-skilled crew
- The CoilHose Light Well Circulation System is a hybrid well intervention system that combines the operational efficiency of a Wireline deployment with the capability to perform a range of pumping applications in the wellbore
- The intervention programme featured the following steps:
- RIH with CoilHose to the TRSSSV
- Tag TRSSSV profile with a No-Go in the CoilHose BHA
- Jet 15% HCL in the Flapper and Flow Tube Areas
- POOH jetting 15% HCL to surface
- A downhole video camera was run pre and post deployment to evaluate results
Value to client
- All four TRSCSSV'S were successfully restored to full functionality with a 100% success rate
- The Expro solution used 85% less acid (46 bbls vs 320 bbls) than the previously employed pump from surface method
- Improved results were delivered compared to previous methodologies utilized - less logistics, operational efficiencies and lower HSE exposure
