Expro Excellence
Subsea Well Access
Expro’s SSTTA system completes six subsea plug and abandonment campaign
Customer challenges
  • Expro’s long-standing client was carrying out Plug and Abandonment (P&A) operations on six subsea wells - three wells in 2022 and another three wells in 2024. To safely conduct these operations from a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU), a subsea safety system was crucial to ensuring well barriers, environmental safeguards and disconnect capabilities during the subsea well access phase. Given the involvement of different rigs for the operations, several interface adjustments were required, often with short notice, to ensure readiness for the work
Expro Excellence
  • Expro provided the client with our industry leading SSTTA system, interfacing with the Subsea Production System (SPS) provided Tubing Hanger Running Tool (THRT) across two different MODU’s to perform the plug and abandonment scope.  Various quick- turnaround system reconfigurations were made to meet the client’s requirements and to accommodate changes across the wells
Value to client
  • Expro’s center of excellence in Aberdeen delivered this work, providing engineering and operational support throughout the campaigns. Expro’s experience from the field development phase ensured consistent support, quick and accurate decisions, and effective handling of interface changes.
  • Comprehensive job performance reviews were conducted by both Expro and the client, achieving a 100% score in health, safety, environmental compliance, communication, equipment performance and overall service quality
