Customer challenges
- Ahead of hurricane Delta entering the Gulf of Mexico, a major operator required a specialized solution to remotely suspend well operations as limited personnel were allowed on the rig site due to COVID-19 restrictions. During this first deployment of their virtual application, the operator required a simplistic and efficient design that could easily be operated with a remote service team
Expro Excellence
- Expro's BRUTE® Storm System, which includes our BRUTE® Retrievable Service Packer, BRUTE® Storm Valve, and BRUTE® Bumper Sub, utilizes a simplistic and robust design that is ideal for seamlessly integrating into an operator’s remote application and reducing personnel on board (POB)
- Our specialized remote operations team provides real-time competent expertise during critical applications from our remote command center
Value to client
- Expro’s remote command center ensured the operator virtually deployed and tested the BRUTE® Storm System successfully to 2,300 psi with 350,000 lbs of tailpipe during the storm suspension operations
- Once correctly set and tested, the overshot was quickly disconnected to leave the BRUTE® Storm System in the wellbore while the rig moved to a safe location in anticipation of the storm
- Expro’s remote command center allowed our team of experts to communicate effectively with the operator’s team from a safe, onshore location
- The virtual operations eliminated the downtime associated with sending personnel to the rig site, maximizing the overall value to the customer
- Increased safety was also achieved by limiting crew exposure during COVID-19, removing personnel from the red zone, and eliminating high risk modes of travel to offshore rigs
