Customer challenges
- As part of an ongoing initiative in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea, Expro, a local drilling contractor, and a major operator aimed to eliminate personnel from the Red Zone during routine operations, reduce personnel on board, and reduce operational costs on an offshore platform
Expro Excellence
- Expro’s Sheaveless COBRA® Control Line Manipulator Arm eliminated the use of overhead sheaves while running completions with multiple control lines and flat packs
On its first deployment, the Sheaveless COBRA® was used to manage the control lines on the upper completion of the well where seven control lines were being run, including a four-line flat-pack, a dual-line from downhole assemblies, and a single line from the tubing retrievable sub-surface safety valve
Value to client
- The Sheaveless COBRA® provided significant risk reduction by reducing the Red Zone risk exposure time of personnel on the rig floor associated with manually positioning control lines against the pipe
Expro’s Sheaveless COBRA® successfully saved 36.4 man-hours of Red Zone risk exposure time, and when combined with other Expro solutions on the well saved over 50 total man hours compared to a conventional job on a similar rig with the same control lines configuration
Reduce Red Zone risk exposure - Reduce personnel on board
- Improve safety & efficiency
