Subsea success stories: Co-ordinating our subsea success

7th March 2024

As part of our celebrations of 40 years of successfully leading the way in the international subsea sector, we’re focusing on some of our team members who contribute to our performance excellence.

We asked project co-ordinators Bethany Davies and Yasmin Wilson to share their thoughts on life at Expro, how and why they joined the industry, and what they think the subsea future looks like.

How do you describe your role?

Bethany: I assist project managers by providing updates, managing day-to-day operational requirements, maintaining project tracking registers, and working closely with the rest of the subsea team.

Yasmin: I support the project managers and team to order and deliver projects against required budgets, schedules, and objectives. I see myself as a link between the different teams and departments, working together to achieve a common goal.

What attracted you to the energy industry?

Yasmin: I finished university and was seeking permanent employment with opportunities to grow and learn. Aberdeen is known for its contribution to the energy industry, and I believe joining Expro has given me the ideal opportunity to be part of it.

Bethany: I agree. The energy industry plays a huge part in Aberdeen. I used to work in the financial services sector, but I wanted to find out more about energy. That’s why decided last year to leave financial services behind and make the move to Expro.

What do you enjoy most about working for Expro?

Bethany: I learn something new and interesting here every day and I don’t think that will ever change. I’m motivated by achievements from hard work and by the opportunities available to me for professional growth, developing my industry knowledge, and upskilling through courses.

Yasmin: I really enjoy the people!

What do you think the future of the subsea sector will look like in 10 years?

Bethany: Oil and gas will continue to be a key part of the energy mix for many years to come as we sustainably transition to cleaner energy. I think the subsea sector has a very bright future and it will continue to play a vital role in delivering solutions to the energy industry - not just for oil and gas but for the energy of the future.

Yasmin: Likewise, I think advances in new technology will ensure the subsea sector continues to grow.

What do you like to do outside work?

Yasmin: I like to take my dog on scenic walks, going to the gym, and eating out with my friends and family. New challenges, the people around me, and their energy keep me motivated.

Bethany: I enjoy keeping fit by going to the gym and I travel around the country supporting my boyfriend race Motocross, he races anything from local club rounds to British rounds. Both situations allow me to socialize with my friends.

Thanks, Yasmin and Bethany!
