Challenge
In July 2023, a US customer faced a complex challenge at a well site in Texas. The operator needed to isolate a casing leak in a 13-3/8” 54.5# casing, and this needed to be accomplished through a wellhead restriction in a cavern storage well. The challenge was twofold, involving both the isolation of the leak and the need to meet strict integrity requirements to return the well to storage service.
Solution and Achievement
The Coretrax solution to this challenge was the deployment of ReLine HYD. ReLine HYD was chosen due to its ability to effectively isolate the casing leak and, critically, meet the integrity requirements necessary for the well's successful return to storage service.
This challenging project required significant expertize and precision. A ~60-foot liner was safely installed and tested through the wellhead restriction. This achievement marked a significant milestone as it allowed the well to return to storage service with the confidence that it met all required standards and regulations.
The key outcome of this project was the successful isolation of the casing leak and the ability to meet the cavern's strict requirements for remediation. The customer was able to ensure the integrity of the well and resume its storage operations, demonstrating the effectiveness of the solution.
The customer expressed their satisfaction with the installation, highlighting that the product worked as designed. The flexibility and customization offered by ReLine HYD were particularly valuable in this project, allowing the well to return to service swiftly and efficiently.
