During a recent drilling project, a major Saudi operator tasked Coretrax with creating a one-trip wellbore clean up assembly solution to deliver inflow testing and casing pickle operations, without compromising the lower completion that had already been deployed.
The operator required a 7” landing sub to be landed on top of a 4 ½” TOL at a 66° inclination to stop the mule shoe hitting the ceramic disk. A second 9 5/8” landing sub was also needed to land on top of a 7” TOL.
The lower sand screen completion, which featured ceramic discs, was landed out. Our WBCU assembly including a 9-5/8” landing sub and a 7” landing sub was then run, with two 7” bumper sub HD’s which were spaced out to allow for 14ft of travel. The space out of the string and inclusion of the bumper sub allowed for a full wellbore clean up and inflow testing to be completed using our CX-LTTT.
Our CX-LTTT is a multi-set packer with three separate elements, designed to perform isolated negative or positive inflow tests on liner tops and casing shoes. Once the inflow test was complete, casing pickling was delivered to remove scale, rust and deposits from the casing and provide optimum corrosion resistance.
The project took a total of 48 hours and was successfully completed in one-trip. Compared to traditional methods, the Coretrax solution saved the operator 1.5 days rig-time.
