Problem
In March 2023, a Middle East operator was faced with corroded and leaking casing, which was negatively affecting production. The client required a solution to isolate the issue and bring the well back onto production. The problem affected an area from 6,860 ft. to 6,905 ft. in the 9-5/8” 47# casing, above the 7” liner top.
Solution And Achievement
The Coretrax ReLine DL 7-5/8”, 0.430” wall x 9-5/8”, 47# cased hole expandable casing patch system was selected to be set within the 9-5/8" 47# casing to isolate the area of compromised integrity within a single deployment. The ReLineDL system enables effective mechanical isolation with maximum post-expansion ID, ensuring optimal flow path for subsequent operations.
After detailed pre-planning, the system was deployed in line with standard operating procedures. The project resulted in the safe and successful isolation of the affected area, providing a robust solution and enabling the client to resume production from the site. The efficiencies provided by the Coretrax system also resulted in reduced production losses and overall improved recovery from the asset.
